I was eating dinner with my family on 1/26/19 at the Franklin, KY establishment. I had finished eating & was waiting for my wife & great nephew to finish eating when I was approached by a manager there asking me to remove my openly carried firearm from my side that I was legally carrying or they would ask me to leave. I politely stated that I apologize I didn't see the no firearms allowed sign on the door & she said well we don't have one but its our corporate policy that they don't allow them inside, I told her she & cracker barrel were breaking the law & that I would not be disarming (I also have a TN concealed carry permit as well). I then asked to speak to the general manager Karra who then rudely came up to me and told me I had three options, first one disarm by putting my pistol in my car & I could come back in, leave the store, or stay & she would call the local police department & have me removed. I told her she was breaking the law & violating my 2nd amendment constitutional rights.

I said I would not disarm not happening (don't have to by law I'm legally carrying my firearm), I would leave not a problem as I was already finished with my food, but I kindly asked her to still call the law as I would like to speak to them about the law.

The nice officers showed up, I showed them I was legally carrying & they agreed as KY is an open carry state, I handed them my handgun carry permit from TN which they ran in the system & it came back clean & valid. I explained the situation to them since the general manager called the law not me, they (3) officers went inside & spoke to the general manager about the situation for about 15 minutes. They couldn't go into details about the conversation however the office did tell me he advised Karra to get legal & post the no firearms allowed on the door quickly. In the state of KY you can refuse someone service & ask them to leave at anytime HOWEVER this WAS NOT THE CASE, they had already served me as I was already done eating, they asked me to leave or disarm after I had finished my dinner. I had been there for probably 45 minutes sitting there with my firearm on my side before I was approached.

This behavior has to stop. Companies violating rights & breaking the laws of this great country needs to end & immediately.. I had never felt so violated in my lifetime (39) years now. I'm a law abiding citizen sitting at this establishment (for the last time now) eating dinner with my family when I was violated, this behavior is absolutely unacceptable & Cracker Barrel needs to be held accountable for this behavior, & having their employees violate the laws as well should tell you all you need to know about this company. The pictures attached were taken while I was out front waiting for the officers to show up clearly showing no handgun signs posted anywhere, clearly Cracker Barrel is breaking the law by doing what they did & that is exactly what the officers told me.

Reason of review: Breaking the law.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

When are you gun toting fools going to understand that no matter what you THINK the law is, it is STILL PRIVATE PROPERTY!! Itโ€™s no different the.

Someone coming into YOUR private residence with a gun. If YOU donโ€™t want THEM to have a weapon on your property then thatโ€™s your right!! Why would you forcefully impose YOUR VERSION of the law on them?? They have every right to ask you not to bring YOUR firearm in THEIR BUILDING!!!

You seem to think that your rights as a gun owner are above the rights of the business owner. If you REALLY want to look at it that way then you are using your SECOND amendment rights to trash the FIRST amendment rights given to them. Youโ€™re not Wyatt erp. Youโ€™re NOT the Lone Ranger.

You are simply a citizen. And not to put too fine a point here but where were all you gunslingers during the mass shootings. We didnโ€™t hear about one of YOU stopping the gunmen.

It was the police, NOT YOU!! Maybe think on how many lives you can save by NOT drawing your weapon.

I don't know about that. He or she sounds pretty smart to me.

Everything that they say makes sense. I agree that all of these people should keep their weaponry locked safely inside of their vehicle whenever they go out to eat.

They think that toting a gun around with them everywhere that they go makes them a "Big Man". But actually, it shows just what a snowflake they really are.

Your car is not a holster. Conceal carry, no one has to know.

What about that luby's shooting in '93? It could happen anywhere.

Maybe you should learn the difference between "your" and "you're" before calling someone an idiot.

You are we wrong about the private property. It is privately owned but it is doors open all public. So the private property become public access property which means ALL PUBLIC.

It might be private property, but with no signs prohibiting guns, Cracker Barrel has no right to involve the police and forcibly remove a patron who has a legal gun with an open carry or concealed carry permit. Cracker Barrel, just put up a damned sign if you don't want law-abiding citizens to carry their guns.

Texas church shootings were stopped twice by citizens, mass shooting at Oklahoma mall stopped by a concealed carrier, think about where 90% of mass shootings occur in gun free zones where nobody can carry a firearm legally.

Private property serving the public. They legally have to post a sign.

Maybe a few lawsuits requiring them to provide armed security will set them straight! Private security is not cheap!

Hit them in their wallet with a lawsuit and they may reconsider their mistake!

People need to fight back cause private or not you canโ€™t tell people not to defend themselves and not provide security! What their telling their customers is โ€œWe donโ€™t care about your life, just your money!

They should have asked that cuck if he had any other kind of weaponry on him as well. He could have taken the gun back to his vehicle, but he still could have been armed with a sharp knife or some mace. Personally, I'd rather get shot by someone that stabbed.

Any restaurant or business should have a sign clearly posted that they do not allow firearms. It seems odd to me that they would serve this gentleman and then demand that he disarm or leave.

Cracker Barrel is all about the almighty dollar. I worked for them and was treated like a prisoner. Very rude and unprofessional managers. My family and I were not treated any better as customers.

Pleasing People motto that they have is laughable.

I have learned not to eat or shop there. By the way, they love to use high pressure sales tactics on their over priced merchandise.

You sound like a baby. You call your managers rude and unprofessional.

Most likely you did a poor job. It is common sense to normal adults to not bring their guns everywhere.

Guest

I don't think that people should be allowed to bring any kind of weaponry with them into eating and drinking establishments.
